Personalised Freight Solutions Global is a leading freight forwarding company based in Brisbane, specialising in delivering international freight solutions, personalised to your unique business needs.
They were looking for a South Australian transport partner with the scale and capability to receive, cross-dock and deliver high value cable reels into regional SA project sites as part of Project Energy Connect.
This is part of Project Energy Connect that will see the construction of a new 330 kilovolt (kV) above ground transmission line, with approximately 800MW transfer capacity.
Key highlights of the project are:
- Increasing reliability and confidence in electricity supply
- Forecast to reduce SA electricity bills by $100pa in SA
- Span more than 900km with 9,000km of cable being used
- It will run from Robertstown SA to Wagga Wagga NSW and have a connection to Red Cliffs Victoria
Our specific challenge was to:
- Receive and process 51 containers within one week
- Cycle through container receipt and destuffing to minimise demurrage and congestion
- Design and execute an intricate and precise container destuffing process
- Keep 200+ high value cable reels intact and ready for use
- Coordinate container destuff, cross-docking and outbound linehaul loading and departures
- Ensure all reels received at regional project locations ready for use
Working with Personalised Freight Solutions Global we were able to design a process that provided the transport solution they required. Utilising our large capacity site and skilled staff we were able to dedicate an area and team to receive, destuff and process the containers safely and efficiently.
Given the size of the cable reels in relation to the containers, an intricate and precise container destuffing process was designed and executed. Once safely out of the containers the cable reels were cross-docked and staged ready for linehaul trailer loading.
51 containers, 200+ cable reels, many regional linehaul runs, all in under a week and it was done.
