Driver Trainee Program

In 2024 we commenced a tailored Driver Trainee Program to assist people to develop a driver career in the transport industry.

We saw an opportunity to partner with a local training organization to provide a 12-month traineeship – the Certificate III in Driver Operations.  Our large fleet of vehicles and their respective license class requirements provide us with a unique opportunity to provide career pathways and formal training in all aspects of heavy vehicle and long-distance driving.  This helps ensure our people are provided with the skills and knowledge to set them up to be safe, competent, and professional on the roads.
Truck driving is a vital skill and a critical element of the supply chain that all Australians rely on in their every day lives. The industry is facing unprecedented shortages of skilled and qualified drivers. We saw an opportunity to provide fulfilling employment opportunities within the communities that we operate and train our own workforce.

The program has been a resounding success – we currently have 10 trainees in the program across our regional network, servicing our metro customers and training with our night linehaul operations out of Gillman.

Our Driver Trainee Program has helped attract a more diverse talent pool to the role of truck driving helping us to open pathways and career opportunities through quality training and mentoring from our experienced driver group.

We are passionate about doing our part to ensure there is a quality talent pool of qualified truck drivers to service the needs of our customers.
