Depot Solar Solutions

We have installed Solar solutions at two of our depots as part of our commitment to reducing our environmental impact.  The use of solar power solutions makes sense environmentally and commercially.

Early in 2021 shortly after commissioning the new Gillman Depot we installed 99.22kW solar system on its main rooftop.   This system through AGL comprised 242 JA Solar 410W (Tier 1) solar panels on racking with a Sungrow SG110CX inverter.
The system has an estimated annual solar generation of 150 MWh of which 65% is expected to be consumed on site with the remaining 35% feeding back into the power grid.
The clean energy generated by this solar system is equivalent to:

  • avoiding 80 tonnes of CO2 emissions
  • the exhaust emissions of 24 cars
  • powering 30 average homes in South Australia

based on conversion factors of 0.5 tonnes CO2/MWh, 3.3 tonnes CO2/car/year, 5.1 MWh/house /year

This solar system has been operating successfully in Gillman since 2021.

Port Pirie Depot

In mid-2022 during the build process of the new Port Pirie Depot at 26 Broadstock Road, Solomontown it was decided to install an off-grid solar system to power the site.  This system comprised 50 Jinko Solar 370W Tiger panels (Total 18.56kW) on racking with an 8.2kW inverter and 30 kWh of Australian Made LiFePO4 battery storage.

This off-grid system has been operating successfully in Port Pirie since 2022.
