While container destuffing seems like a straightforward process it requires pre-planning and organisation, particularly when dealing with different sized, bulky or awkward shaped goods. If the container is coming from overseas, often they are not palletised, to optimise the container space usage. This means an efficient destuffing, sorting, staging, validation and palletising process is required. This can be quite a complex exercise depending on the mix of goods in the container and their next destination.
As goods are destuffed they need to be checked against the shipping manifest and inspected for damage that occurred during shipping. Any manifest variance or damage found needs to be recorded and communicated so the liability is clear to the affected parties.
Once destuffing is complete, the container should be inspected and all debris removed.
Since the destuffing process can be labour intensive, efficiency comes from having a trained and experienced team that regularly perform this work and have established processes.
