Latest Scanning Technology

For track and trace purposes we scan our freight as it enters and moves through our network.  We use Zebra TC57x scanners (image to right) for delivery and short range depot scanning.  They are rugged handheld, all touch, mobile computers with WiFi/cellular capability. They use best in class green laser aiming for accurate point and shoot aiming, even in bright sunlight, have high resolution photo capability and have a battery life of up to 14 hours.

For longer range depot scanning we use  Zebra MC94 scanners (image below).  These ultra rugged handheld 'gun' scanners have a very wide scanning range, from in-hand to 20 metres away.  They have WiFi 6E and 5G capability, long battery life and easy swap batteries for multi-shift operations. They use best in class green laser aiming for accurate point and shoot aiming, even in bright sunlight, have high resolution photo capability and can survive the toughest environments.   Large 4.3 inch display and keypad make data entry and instructions easy to access.

Delivery Scan Events

When freight enters our network:

  • via pick up, the freight is scanned as PICKED UP (PUP)
  • via drop off at our depot, the freight is scanned as IN DEPOT (IN)

Freight that is loaded on board for delivery is scanned as ONBOARD (ONB)

A completed freight delivery is scanned as SIGN ON GLASS (SOG)

For some regional locations the freight delivery scan can be:

  • HELD FOR COLLECTION (HFC) at one of our depots
  • DROP POINT (DRP) at a specific location, usually a nearby local business

When a delivery attempt is unsuccessful the freight is scanned as FAILED DELIVERY (FD).

The most common failed delivery scan event is a FAILED DELIVERY LEFT CARD, where the driver has left a 'Sorry We Missed You' card on or near your door.  This card contains instructions on contacting us to arrange your delivery.

Supply Chain Visibility

Our technology and systems provide us with end-to-end supply chain visibility.  Apart from the delivery scan events, as described above, we use a range of other scan events that enables us to know every movement the freight takes, whether it is to a different location in the same depot or a transfer from one depot to another.

We have some remote deliveries where there are multiple steps from network entry to delivery.

For example: freight for delivery to Roxby Downs will be received and sorted in Adelaide, travel by overnight linehaul to our Port Augusta Depot, where it is transferred to a smaller linehaul to Roxby Downs for local delivery by our Roxby Downs Agent.  Our technology and systems allow us to track these movements as they happen.
